little of this and a little of that… {Northern Virginia portrait photographer~ Marsha Mifsud}

It’s Sunday evening already~ the weekends go so fast around here. It was busy…Bunco with the new neighbors, BBQ with new friends and lots of shopping. So…I went shopping with the intentions of getting an outfit for my kids pictures…came home with three outfits for each child…so I guess that means three different locations…{they WILL hate me…maybe they already do after shopping all day!}. We are planning a big present for Father’s Day…{our fireplace mantle needs a 24 x 60 canvas} and this will be our secret project this week…{good thing he doesn’t read my blog, uh?}.

I’m so excited that I have new music for my website…have you heard it? If not…check it out. The drummer in the band is a client {and friend} from Coronado. Here’s a link to their site www.jessietaylor.org

They played in the Gaslamp last weekend…check them out in person…their schedule is on the site. I might just have to fly back to San Diego to photograph the band…wouldn’t that be cool to photograph a future celebrity band!

While drinking my morning coffee,{if the house is quiet…which means the kids are still asleep} I love to look at a magazine…decorating magazine usually. My favorite~ Coastal Living. I’m in love with this month’s issue simply because of this designer’s houses. Her name is Jane Coslick…and she has great taste!

Check out this lovely pink beach cottage that belongs to Françoise O’Neill. I’m so jealous…dream on dear!

i love this…I recently started my own collection of crosses {my boys made some adorable ones at Christmas…they were covered in shells…very beachy and so cute} and this is a great way of displaying them.

Old Town Alexandria… {Northern Virginia Portrait photographer~ Marsha Mifsud}

i just fell in love with this little quaint town with lots of great shopping! we took a much needed detour in Old Town on our way to Mt Vernon this weekend. we stopped for lunch and walked around…it was Sunday so most shops weren’t open yet…but we enjoyed our lunch! we ate at Bittersweet…a yummy cupcake bakery.

So i’m headed to Gap.. to get outfits…for pictures…of the kids…in Old Town. {they will be thrilled…the boys run from the camera now…i’ll bribe them with a cupcake!} The shops are such great colors and will make an adorable backdrop for the pictures i have in mind…I’ll show them soon!

here’s some outfit ideas from Gap to help when planning your photo session…

these boots are made for walking… {Northern Virginia photographer~ Marsha Mifsud}

dsc_5491blog.jpg

we were heading out the door for our morning walk~ she rides while I walk~ and i told her to get her shoes on…she comes out in her boots. i tell her it’s too hot for boots~ she tells me it’s not…I give in~ yet again. On the walk, I start singing…”these boots are made for walking, and that’s just what they’ll do…one of these days these boots are gonna walk all over you.” Ava replies…”those are some mean boots!”

what a lovely surprise yesterday…my sweet neighbor brought these to me. she’s from the south just like me and we have such the same taste…and these flowers are just beautiful! { i love the jar even…looks like they came straight out of Country Living} So i am just enjoying my flowers…and being thankful for having such great neighbors.

We are off to meet Daddy for lunch {not my Daddy…wouldn’t it be nice if I could meet my Dad for lunch…he died when i was young…so we are meeting Ava’s daddy~ her favorite person in the world…oh yes, she’s tells me she loves him more than me!}

have a great day and fun Memorial day weekend…we are getting to see lots of old friends this weekend {some we haven’t seen in about 11 years!} so we are looking forward to it and hoping for good weather.

calling cards…make the best gifts!! {Northern Virginia photographer~ Marsha Mifsud}

I’m designing calling cards for teachers gifts…and a belated birthday gift…and thought I’d share some previous cards I’ve designed for clients. they are so much fun to design and i love seeing the finish product printed and wrapped for delivery.  another fun thing I’m creating is book labels for the teachers… it’s a 2×3.5 sticker that can be used for just about anything {attach to a bottle of wine for giving…so cute , dropping off a meal to someone…just stick the sticker to the foil or bag…or for loaning out a book!}. I’ll show them to you when i get them finished {and delivered}…enjoy.

I’m off to fix an afterschool snack for some hungry boys. sound familiar?

and we celebrate… {Northern Virginia photographer~ Marsha Mifsud}

Ava woke up and announced that it was Ya Ya’s birthday…so we celebrated this special day {it’s not everyday that the most loved bunny in this house…or world, quite possibly…has a birthday}. you can tell by looking at Ya Ya that she is quite special…baths don’t happen all that often for her {we can’t part with her for that long} and one ear is much dirtier than the other {this ear is used for soothing Ava to sleep…she gently rubs it back and forth on her upper lip…strange, maybe…but it’s her thing and it’s makes us all happy!} we had originally named her Lily…i just love that name…but Ava renamed her Ya Ya…

so how did we celebrate…pictures of course! Ava chose her outfit {yes…she is still the wearing the pink boots…morning, noon and night} and wanted a flower in her hair {so we settled on the hat} and it was a lovely morning! i love spending these sweet days with her…like ya didn’t know that!dsc_5354blog.jpg

she knows when she looks cute…she just knows. Don’t we all feel a little happier when we feel like we look good…maybe it’s a great outfit, good hair day…whatever it may be…just makes us smile a little more. Enjoy your happiness~ most of all~ find your happiness!

i finally got a chance to take some pictures of our home…not many so it’s just a peek! And I’m not finished decorating {or unpacking!} but my sis just keeps bugging me for pictures…so this is for you big sis.

i think you’ll notice my “beach” sign…i do realize we no longer live at the beach~ i just can’t seem to forget it though~ so all of my “beachy” things remind me of it daily. My son also reminds me of it daily when he says how much he misses Coronado and wants to go back! I miss it too but I am also thankful for all the wonderful “new” friends we have met here!

and guess what arrived today…my new marketing materials for Sweet Bliss Studios…yeah!! i almost ready to re-launch here…so exciting!
