I am more than just a dog…

Here’s a glimpse of what we’re doing today…being lazy and loving it!

dsc_7668blog.jpg

My little three year old was admiring the flowers on the table… she ask if she could just touch them…

dsc_7276blog.jpg

so I said sure…just be gentle…this is her being gentle…

dsc_7285blog.jpg

I left the room for just a minute…and when I returned…

dsc_7305blog.jpg

she “made a party” with the rose petals… {whatever that means}

ava1.jpg

This is her looking very guilty {the funny thing is that she doesn’t look very sorry…even though she said she was sooo sorry…}

and here are the two boys that think she’s the world…{ok…so we all do}

ava-blog.jpg

Her oldest brother brought her home a lunchbox…a “high school musical” lunchbox…

she loves that movie…she loves Troy…and the songs…which we sing all day {unless she’s singing ABBA…she is also a Mamma Mia fan}.

This is Ava checking out the lunchbox…not many smiles but she was a happy girl.

this image makes me want to cry thinking of her going off to school…she’s so ready to start school…I’m not ready!

how ya like them apples?

Today I bribed the kids with going out to breakfast…then casually took them shopping…they were troopers! No complaints {just bought a Dora game to keep the littlest happy} and the boys have decided they want to buy a TV…not a new one…a used one…they really need one…i said we’d think about it {i remember when my Mom would say that~ it always meant no}.

But here is my deal of the day…

this precious little bed needs some help…but after a little tlc…it should be perfect for Ava. it’s not a twin…it fits a crib mattress~ just perfect for transitioning to a big girl bed {which I bought today too!!} Pictures of that later {i haven’t picked it up yet} and it is definitely a before and after project.

So here is the first bed…dust and all! {It was $25!!! told ya it was a deal} Now I have to decide what color it will be…white or pink…

dsc_7328bed.jpg

After the thrift shop, we headed next door to Washingtonian Interiors. I found these two pillow covers…love them!

I’m off to clean up the new bed…

Here’s a favorite picture from our vacation. Ava loved these green apples that were at our friends home in charlotte {they had used them for a photo shoot} and here she is…in her bathing suit…with those apples!

Meet Ken Pursley…and his lovely family {who just happens to be some of our very best friends} from Charlotte, North Carolina. Ken is an extremely talented architect whose work just amazes me. Take a peek at his office here http://pa-movinonup.com/ {notice the song…sound familiar…Movin on up} and here is his other site http://www.pursleyarchitecture.com/

 Their motto is “Build Beautiful Things”…and that he does!

So while I was in Charlotte, I had the chance to photograph Ken and the family…

dsc_6369blog.jpg

after two weeks on the road, we are back…and it feels so good to be home! it was a great vacation filled with great friends and family, yummy food {and cocktails} and good ‘ole hot and humid weather {that part I could have done without}…it was in the very high 90’s everyday! Southern Cali sure did spoil us…we are happy when it’s in the 70’s {complain about the 80’s} so you can imagine how we felt {and smelt!} after two hot and sweaty weeks in the South.

I have sooo many pictures to share…it should take weeks! here’s some from my Mom’s in Alabama. This is the land where i grew up and also where I married my husband! Every time I’m home i get pictures of the kids here. The boys worked for days on the tree house…then gave up.

it’s a beautiful fourth of July…and I’m on this computer…shame on me. My boys are all out buying me a birthday present…they bought birthday cards for me on vacation and they have been carrying them around…waiting for tomorrow. Such sweet little guys when it comes to doing nice things for me…{not so sweet when they are bugging each other}.

under the weather…

when it rains…it pours. {literally}

We have had a week of rain…sickness {Ava}…a little sunshine…Daddy coming home…sickness {Me}…and rain…lots of it! This morning was thunderstorms {the kind that made me go get in bed with one of my kids because I was scared!}.

So after a busy and sick week…I’m finished with this sweet girls sneak peek…she is beautiful and was such a delight to photograph.

Chandler & Allie…

It’s still raining…so that means I had time to edit pictures.

I just finished up some of my favorites of Chandler and Allie…these sisters are adorable..but most of all…sweet girls!

I had a great time with them yesterday and enjoyed meeting these sisters… and their Mom…{War Eagle!}

And now for a peek…

rain, rain, go away…

We might just make it a pajama day if this rain doesn’t stop…which might not be a bad idea.

We had a beautiful morning yesterday in Georgetown. I had the pleasure of photographing at Georgetown Visitation Prep School. It was a beautiful campus and a great backdrop. Here’s a peek…

Just wait til you see the girls i photographed…absolutely beautiful! It was a fun {hot and humid} morning but the girls never complained.

so if this rain keeps up…I’ll get a chance to post some shots of the girls today.

little of this and a little of that… {Northern Virginia portrait photographer~ Marsha Mifsud}

It’s Sunday evening already~ the weekends go so fast around here. It was busy…Bunco with the new neighbors, BBQ with new friends and lots of shopping. So…I went shopping with the intentions of getting an outfit for my kids pictures…came home with three outfits for each child…so I guess that means three different locations…{they WILL hate me…maybe they already do after shopping all day!}. We are planning a big present for Father’s Day…{our fireplace mantle needs a 24 x 60 canvas} and this will be our secret project this week…{good thing he doesn’t read my blog, uh?}.

I’m so excited that I have new music for my website…have you heard it? If not…check it out. The drummer in the band is a client {and friend} from Coronado. Here’s a link to their site www.jessietaylor.org

They played in the Gaslamp last weekend…check them out in person…their schedule is on the site. I might just have to fly back to San Diego to photograph the band…wouldn’t that be cool to photograph a future celebrity band!

While drinking my morning coffee,{if the house is quiet…which means the kids are still asleep} I love to look at a magazine…decorating magazine usually. My favorite~ Coastal Living. I’m in love with this month’s issue simply because of this designer’s houses. Her name is Jane Coslick…and she has great taste!

i love this…I recently started my own collection of crosses {my boys made some adorable ones at Christmas…they were covered in shells…very beachy and so cute} and this is a great way of displaying them.

Old Town Alexandria… {Northern Virginia Portrait photographer~ Marsha Mifsud}

i just fell in love with this little quaint town with lots of great shopping! we took a much needed detour in Old Town on our way to Mt Vernon this weekend. we stopped for lunch and walked around…it was Sunday so most shops weren’t open yet…but we enjoyed our lunch! we ate at Bittersweet…a yummy cupcake bakery.

dsc_5492blog.jpg

So i’m headed to Gap.. to get outfits…for pictures…of the kids…in Old Town. {they will be thrilled…the boys run from the camera now…i’ll bribe them with a cupcake!} The shops are such great colors and will make an adorable backdrop for the pictures i have in mind…I’ll show them soon!

here’s some outfit ideas from Gap to help when planning your photo session…
